Oh, yeah. The O.T. God could put Alien or Predator or Megatron or Godzilla or Klaatu or the Sentinel to shame!
This dude could come tapping you (or Abraham or Job or Moses) on the shoulder and you’d know you were due for a) a serious world of hurt, b) an incredibly long time in some godforsaken wasteland getting camel dung on your sandals, c) some mind-warping test of belief and obedience, d) a vision, e) a miracle, f) a lifetime of celibacy, g) a lifetime of preaching, h) a lifetime of begetting, i) a staff that sometimes became a serpent, j) groceries from heaven, k) frogs from heaven, or l) some wacky combination of the preceding.
So we can all be thankful that the Old Testament officially ended more than 2,000 years ago!
Man, am I glad that’s over! (Now all I have to worry about is politicians, CEOs, lending officers, and that kid down the block with the air rifle.)

CM: I'm not sure I believe in any God/god/gods/vishnu/buddha/Yehovah/Dylan/Elvis/money/etc., but I certainly believe in the golden rule and more: respect for every living thing, and striving to leave the world better than you found it (and by 'world', I mean not only the natural world and all its creatures, but also the social, cultural, intellectual, philosophical, interpersonal world — all of it — which I suppose some would call the universe). Nothing's going to change the world but us.

WoW!! As a student of the Bible,(with a bachelor's in Theology) I find that this hub may ROCK the world of any of my Fellow ministers and even my Jewish relatives and Friends. The reality is some people are watching the calender prediction of the Mayan's idea of 2012 earth changes and some viewers of that "movie" really think that what you have implied in this hub will come true. I am ready in a personal sense that changes are coming, but your light hearted hub writing has taught me to keep a sense of humor as we keep on truckin' each day. Great illustration, and thoughts. If the astronomers currently think they can change everybody's sun sign, then Rick Z. can notify us to be aware of the unexpected. The Golden Rule still applies in my book. How about you?
PS The OT God did well for preparing us for the NT Son of God.
